Fahmi is a Melbourne based neurosurgeon who will be visiting Ballarat 2-4 days per month. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, cerebrovascular disorders, and brain tumours. He completed a subspecialty fellowship in Canada and underwent further training in the United States to refine his surgical techniques and improve patient outcomes.

Fahmi obtained his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2010. He undertook neurosurgical training at several major hospitals in Melbourne and Sydney, including St Vincent’s Hospital, the Austin Hospital, The Alfred, St George Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital. After obtaining his fellowship, Fahmi completed subspecialty training in complex spine surgery as part of a joint Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic program at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Fahmi consults and operates at St Vincent’s Private Hospital and Epworth Richmond, and holds public appointments at St Vincent’s Hospital and Box Hill Hospital. For those patients who do not have private health insurance, he is more than happy to place them on the public waiting list should they require surgery.

Fahmi is also actively involved in teaching of neurosurgery registrars, residents and medical students. He has authored multiple publications in peer reviewed journals. He is a member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia and the North American Spine Society.

Fahmi is known for his personable nature. He is also bilingual and happy to consult patients in either English or Malay. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his young family. He is an avid sports fan and supports Richmond Football Club, Manchester United and the LA Rams.
